What’s all the excitement about Danish architecture? Why has Copenhagen been named the World Capital of Architecture for 2023-2026? And what philosophies and principles lie behind the façades and spaces that shape one of the world’s most livable cities?

As part of our in-house exhibition So Danish!, which chronicles the evolution of Danish architecture from its modest origins to its celebrated status today, this city tour highlights key developments in Danish architecture since the 19th century. Together, we’ll uncover how pivotal historical moments and the rise of Denmark’s welfare state have shaped the architectural landscape of Copenhagen.

Danish society is rooted in trust, equality, and solidarity—values that resonate deeply in its architecture. From residential buildings to public spaces and infrastructure, these principles are woven into the city’s design.
