Almost without dialogue, this poetic documentary tells a visual story about humanity’s relationship with building materials – and how our architecture reflects both our values and our destructive impact on the planet.
The film takes us to places such as the ancient ruins of Baalbek in Lebanon, war-torn apartment blocks in Ukraine, and geological layers that literally hold the building blocks of civilization.
Russian director Victor Kossakovsky is known for his powerful visual storytelling, and Architecton is no exception. The film offers breathtaking imagery of both natural and human-made structures, supported by an evocative musical score.
More than just a documentary, Architecton invites us to reflect on our role as both creators and destroyers of the places we inhabit.
