Guided Tour: From Modern Classics to the Architecture of the Future
Join a guided tour in English and discover the story of Danish architecture. You can also purchase a dinner ticket and enjoy a communal dinner with the other participants after the tour. The dinner will be served at long tables in the DAC Café.

During the tour through DAC’s exhibitions, we invite you into the history of Danish architecture. In our permanent exhibition So Danish! we stop at selected moments along the timeline that have shaped the way we build and live today. Here it becomes clear how the development of society is reflected in architecture – from the Viking ring fortresses, through post-war urban planning and housing developments, to Bjarke Ingels’ iconic buildings from the beginning of this century.
After visiting So Danish! we continue to DAC’s largest exhibition space, Forum. Here we connect the historical story to the questions and agendas shaping architecture today – and tomorrow. We present the current exhibition and hope that guests on the tour will join in a conversation about what they experience. Finally, we go together to the café, where long tables are set for those guests who have purchased dinner tickets.
Programme:
17:00 – 18:15: Guided tour
18:15: Communal dinner in the DAC Café
21:00: DAC closes
Pracitical information:
- Your guide will be one of DAC’s exhibition hosts. The tour is conducted in English, and everyone is welcome.
- The tour is especially for tourists and new residents in Denmark who are curious about how Danish architecture became what we see today.
- If you purchase a dinner ticket, the conversation about Danish architecture continues around the long table in DAC’s café.
- We begin at DAC’s ticket desk, Welcome – two floors below ground – and move up through the building. The tour ends at the top of DAC. If the weather allows, we will step out onto the harbor terrace with views across more than 800 years of Danish history. Here, prehistory meets the future – and you may find one of the best views in the city overlooking life in Copenhagen Harbour.
- The tour takes place every Monday at 17:00.
- The tour is free once admission to DAC has been paid.
