The harbour is one of Copenhagen’s most important and exciting urban areas. A tour through the harbour allows you to closely follow the constant changes going on at Copenhagen’s waterfront. On this harbour tour you will explore the new urban area of Copenhagen – the North Harbour.
By boat we sail along some of the new areas in the harbour, while the stories of new buildings, plans, and projects will unfold. The theme of the tour will be the overall plans forming the basis of the development from an industrial harbour to a recreational urban area, which we have witnessed in recent years.
To the north we pass the UN City, come close to the redeveloped silos in the neighbourhood of Århusgade and the future cruise terminal. The tour also goes past The Royal Playhouse and Kvæsthusmolen and the harbour bath at Islands Brygge.
The harbour is one of Copenhagen’s significant urban areas, and with its central location in the middle of the city it is an attractive area for citizens and tourists. But it has not always been like that. Just 25 years ago large, heavily loaded ships sailed to Islands Brygge and to the southern end of the harbour. Being able to swim in the harbour was an unthinkable idea. Today it would be unthinkable NOT to be able to swim in the harbour.
The harbour’s recent history is founded on the three aspects of sustainability: social, environmental and economic sustainability. Bridges make it easy to get around by bike and good urban environments and housing makes it attractive for families to stay in the city.
All this is united in the new urban area of Copenhagen – the North Harbour which is the focal point of this harbour tour.
This tour can also be combined with our tour ‘Harbour tour in the southern part of the harbour’. This will make the duration of the tour two hours long.
