Explore Ørestad Nord, the first area in Ørestad to be developed. Ørestad Nord combines educational institutions with residential areas, and on the walk you will pass by award-winning architectural gems such as Tietgenkollegiet (residence hall) and DR Concert Hall.

Ørestad North is the most northern part of the new Ørestad’s four different areas. On our walk you will explore Ørestad Nord which was the pioneering area in the new Ørestad 10-15 years ago.

We’ll begin our walk at ‘DR Byens’ Metro Station which is in the southern end of Ørestad North. Here you will hear about the plans for Ørestad and we will unveil the plans for a brand new neighbourhood, The August Schade Quarter, which is currently under construction.

We continue our walk towards the canal, where buildings by star architects lie like beads on a string.

Here is the Danish Broadcasting Corporation and its Concert Hall which is designed by the world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel.

On the roof top of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation you’ll find the largest solar panel installation in Denmark which makes the building a good example of sustainable architecture.

We pass by major educational institutions: The IT University by Henning Larsen Architects and the University of Copenhagen’s Faculty of Humanities, and we will experience the award-winning iconic building of Ørestad North: the round ‘Tietgenkollegiet’ with the unique courtyard by the architects Lundgaard & Tranberg.

We will explore the Royal Library, ‘Bikubenkollegiet’ and the Mikado House and get close to the residential area that meander through the landscape and has space for about 300 homes.

We end the walk at Metro Station ‘Islands Brygge’.
