International Talk: Liam Young
AfterDAC International Talk is a series where you meet internationally influential voices from the worlds of architecture and art.

Come join us for a thought-provoking presentation, visual storytelling, and conversation where ideas are not merely presented, but experienced and shared.
This evening’s guest is Liam Young, the world-renowned Australian architect and filmmaker, who works at the intersection of architecture, film, and fiction. Through powerful visual narratives, he opens new ways of seeing technology, cities, and climate, offering alternative visions of the future that are at once critical, poetic, and unsettlingly relevant.
Join Liam Young for a sensory and immersive storytelling performance: Planetary Imaginaries. Blending fiction and documentary, the work takes you on a sci-fi safari through a screen-based landscape of alternative - and hopeful - worlds.
For generations, humans have left their mark on the planet. Through colonization, globalization, and the relentless extraction of resources, we have transformed the world to such an extent that the impact can be felt from the cellular level to the Earth’s vast geological movements. What science fiction once warned us about suddenly feels disturbingly familiar. Planetary Imaginaries opens a space where you can both glimpse tomorrow and see the current climate crisis in a new light, not as something that lies ahead of us, but as something unfolding all around us right now.
The film The Great Endeavour in the exhibition Age of Nature
In our current exhibition Age of Nature, you can experience Liam Young’s film The Great Endeavour - a visual, poetic, and hopeful vision of how humanity might collaborate to remove CO₂ from the atmosphere. The work weaves together climate, culture, technology, and collective mobilization.
