Architecture for All Species

The teaching programme Architecture for All Species in the exhibition Age of Nature invites students in Grades 7–10 and upper secondary education to work with climate, sustainability, biodiversity, and architecture at DAC.

How can we make room for both people and nature?

In the exhibition Age of Nature, we explore how we can build for the future so there is space for people, animals, and plants. How can architecture and technology be used to create new possibilities—and what happens when we begin to see nature as a partner rather than a resource to be exploited?

Students encounter living trees kept alive by machines, fungi cultivated as building material for the city, and architectural visions where public spaces are reimagined as new habitats. Along the way, they work in sensory and inquiry-based ways in the exhibition: How do we see, feel, and experience nature’s presence in a space—and how can we translate those experiences into ideas for the cities and landscapes of the future?

We talk about nature, technology, and responsibility, and reflect on how we can live in harmony with nature—even as we build, live, and move through the city. Through creative activities, students develop visions for the Denmark of the future, where biodiversity, architecture, and human needs can exist side by side.

This programme is ideal for classes working with climate, sustainability, architecture, science, and social studies themes.
