How will we judge today’s cities tomorrow? Failures, successes and the future of city making
A keynote and conversation with Charles Landry reflecting on 50 years of city making — and how the cities we shape today may be judged tomorrow.

Charles Landry is one of the most influential thinkers who has shaped the transformation of cities over the past 50 years. In the 1980s and 1990s, he was a pioneer of a new form of conversation about urban life, creativity, and culture. He is the author of several books, including “The Creative City: A Guidebook for Urban Innovators” and “The Art of City Making,” and as advisor and inspirer he has had a major impact on cities that have successfully transformed their culture, organization, public spaces, and self-perception, including places such as Bilbao, Berlin, and Adelaide.
Charles Landry gave a keynote on The Art of City Making, with insights, reflections, and a self-critical look at 50 years of work in 20+ different countries. Landry reflects on the ideas, ambitions and assumptions that have shaped contemporary city making.
In addition to Charles Landrys keynote the panel with Helle Søholt, Founding Partner of Gehl and Frederik Fryland, Associate urban development and investments at Urban Partners reflects on placemaking in Denmark and Copenhagen in past, present and future
