It was announced on May 30 2024 on The Royal House of Denmark’s website that His Majesty King Frederik X will become the patron of Danish Architecture Center (DAC). DAC welcomes the news with great enthusiasm.

»We are very excited about The King’s patronage of DAC, which we are confident will encourage even more Danes to take an interest in the physical spaces that support our collective quality of life in Denmark,« said CEO Kent Martinussen and Director Dorthe Weinkouff Barsøe, who make up the leadership of the Danish Architecture Center.

»The Royal House has a 400-year tradition of recognizing the importance of architecture in the development of Danish society, and The King’s patronage continues this tradition at a time when architecture and urban development are of great interest to many Danes, especially concerning the sustainable development of Danish society,« added Kent Martinussen.

Danish Architecture Center (DAC) was established in 1985 as Denmark’s national center for the dissemination of architecture and the built environment. In 2018, DAC moved into the new BLOX building on Copenhagen’s waterfront. The center hosts exhibitions, educational programs for children and youth, and debate events to promote dialogue about our physical environment throughout society. Additionally, there are events held nationwide, particularly for municipal officials and politicians, and a vast knowledge base is available in Danish and English through articles and podcasts.

In 2023, Danish Architecture Center welcomed 285,000 visitors to DAC in BLOX.
