As the sun starts to heat up the city, it is time to get out and explore the architecture. The city’s many parks invite children’s play, long walks, and enjoyment in the year’s first rays of sunshine. Here is our guide to ten fresh spring favorites in Copenhagen.

1. Superkilen and Nørrebro Park
– Visual diversity

Grab your bike and ride through Superkilen and Nørrebro Park. Along the paved path, you’ll meet a diversity of people enjoying the park. Everywhere, there are play opportunities for children, and if you’re up for more, make sure to also swing by Mimersparken, which isn’t far away.

2. Landbohøjskolens Have
– Peaceful Garden and Relic of the Past

If you’re longing to see nature flourish in peaceful surroundings, Landbohøjskolens Have (the University of Copenhagen’s Horticultural Garden) is the place for you. Enjoy a park free of dogs, bikes, and balls. You can also sit outside at Cafe Væksthuset, found in Sommerblomsthaven, and bask in the spring sun.

3. Enghaveparken and Enghave Plads
– Space for activities

At the end of Istedgade, you’ll find Enghave Plads. Here, there are red benches, cafes, and a skate park where kick scooters are not looked down upon. Next to it is Enghaveparken with its basketball courts and cozy seating areas, from where you can take a walk in the creative Vesterbro area.

A park on an island in the harbor. The Opera Park invites you to stay and look around. Visit the pavilion in the middle with its accompanying café and The Royal Danish Opera, which the park adjoins. From here, if you’re up for a walk, you can continue your journey towards Refshaleøen.

6. Karens Minde Aksen

In Sydhavnen, you’ll find Karens Minde Aksen. On dry days, you can walk the entire path system in the park, and on wet days, you can experience flood protection up close. Also, visit Karens Minde Kulturhus and The Children’s Animal Field, where there are activities for both young and old.

7. Bispebjerg Cemetery
– See the cherry trees bursting into bloom

In April, you can stroll through a pink world at Bispebjerg Cemetery when the cherry trees bloom. Here, Bispebjerg joins a series of cemeteries that serve as excellent green retreats – a phenomenon we particularly appreciate in Denmark. At Bispebjerg, you can also visit the beautiful Grundtvigs Church or the solemn Bispebjerg Crematorium.
