DR Byen
The design of the Danish National Broadcasting Corporation headquarters is inspired by a kasbah. Jean Nouvel’s impressive concert hall makes up one of the building’s four segments.
Bohrs Tårn and UCC
The broad rectangular frame of Bohrs Tårn is the first of nine residential high-rises to adorn the skyline of the new Carlsberg Byen district. However it may be interpreted – as an exciting progression in Copenhagen’s contemporary development, or an exclusionary and burdensome eyesore in a historically sensitive area – there is no doubt that the 100-metre-tall tower is the new focal point for the vibrant emerging Carlsberg Campus site.
Nyt Hospital Nordsjælland
Dedicated to the good life, transcending sheer survival, through the healing power of nature and access to sunlight for all patients. Nyt Hospital Nordsjælland (New Northern Zealand Hospital) relies on the latest research in reimagining traditional hospital design to reunite health, healing, and architecture.
Niels Bohr Bygningen
Facades in pyramid-shaped glass, two buildings and a connecting bridge spanning the busy Jagtvej thoroughfare. The new home of the Faculties of Science and Computer Science at the University of Copenhagen is designed to reflect the research that will be conducted inside.
Radiohuset
As the radio grew in popularity, Vilhelm Lauritzen was invited in 1934 to design new headquarters for the Danish public radio broadcaster. The project did not have the best of starts when the design was released to the public. However, over the decades, Radiohuset (The Radio House) has evolved into a gem of Danish architectural history.
LIFE Campus
LIFE Campus is a visionary national learning center in an impressive new building nestled in the old hunting grounds in Lyngby, north of Copenhagen. A building designed specifically to promote children’s interest in the natural sciences. And one where the architecture plays a key role.
VEGA
VEGA’s concert halls invite people to visit and explore the building’s quirky features that showcase the Functionalism style of the 1950s. The building was designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen and opened its doors in 1956. A design that displayed without pretense its structure of reinforced concrete and glass.
Daells Varehus
The iconic department store on Nørregade in central Copenhagen, fondly referred to as “Dalle Valle”, is remembered as an institution that dressed the Danes for decades. While the store closed its doors years ago, the building still stands as a contribution to Copenhagen’s Modernist architectural history.
Spidsen af Nordø
Like an uncut diamond, the Tip of Nordø (Spidsen af Nordø in Danish) towers at the entrance to Copenhagen Harbor. Situated on the edge of the Århusgade neighborhood, Tip of Nordø stands as a modern lighthouse and the workplace of the future.
Copenhagen Airport
Bright interiors and premium materials exude quality and a welcoming atmosphere. Architectural ingenuity and masterly design schemes make Copenhagen Airport one of the world’s best airports.
